Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

 

Everyday, black lives are threatened by extreme poverty, policy brutality, housing discrimination, high infant mortality rates and more. In the US alone, a black person is murdered every 28 hours with little to no police accountability [1].

Through their wide affiliate network of 38 communities, BLM mobilises local power to change policy, amplify black stories, run for office and provide economic and social support for black communities. 

To date, BLM has ousted black politicians, won critical legislation and changed the terms of conversations around Blackness globally. Key achievements include; the effective intervention of pride week in Toronto, achieving sanctuary city status in Birmingham, and  the 54-day camp-in outside Los Angelas city hall to protest the unfair ruling of a police commissioner.
